Vinyl Record Wall Hangers

IMG_0193.jpeg

This Instructable is about making your own Vinyl Record Wall Mount! Its a nice way to display your favourite vinyls and making them easily accessible. This is a straightforward project that only requires a little scrapwood and maybe some creativity as you can change up the shape of the frames to something you like. So get your vinyls, some scrap wood and a blank sheet of paper and get started.

Rough Cuts, Planing the Board

The first thing I did was to cut the board in smaller pieces so I could Split it in half as it was a little bit to thick for my liking. Then I could go ahead planing the surface to flatten it out. To do this I put some tape on the board and the workbench. Then I put some superglue on the tape and glued both parts together. This way I could plane the board and later easily detach it without using a clamp, which would be annyoing whilst planing. I planend until my pieces were about 5mm thick.

I had some ideas for how I would make the frames. They're made of a front and a back piece which are sized the same. I just cut the pieces approximately to size to then refine everything and see what works. You can see all the final measurements on the pictures. You can try to play around with the sizes and shapes and come up with something new. You could even make wordshaped frames or carve some patterns into them.

I then cut some small strips which I used as spacers to place in between the front and back part of the frame. Make sure they're wide enough for Record Album Cover as the differ in thickness. I found 1cm as a good width which also works for Album Covers with 2 vinyls.

Glueing, Sanding & Finish

The next thing to do is to glue all the parts together. After letting the glue dry I cut the spacers to size. I made them a bit longer before so I could adjust them now to the front and back part. And after some sanding and a nice finish (which in this case is not needed because the mounts are used inside and they are not heavily loaded) you're ready to hang them up with nails or screws or some double sided tape. Enjoy!
