Looking for the perfect stocking stuffer? These delicious vintage chocolate dipping spoons are perfect for holiday gift giving and cost under $10 bucks. Use them to dip in hot chocolate or to spruce up your favorite coffee or latte.

I've been collecting these spoons for a while now. The best place to find them is garage sales, estate sales, thrift stores & antique shops. Don't pay more than $1.00 for each spoon. I have found them for as low as 10 cents and bought 3 vintage spoons together for $1.00.I totally scored and found one that had chocolate engraved on the bottom. One of them has the year 1847 engraved on the back.

I just love vintage!

I used 3 different kinds of chocolate, including a Mexican chocolate that was inspired by this Mexican Drinking Chocolate Instructable.

Dip vintage spoon into chocolate. Twirl back and forth and make sure to coat the back of the spoon. Shake spoon back and forth until the chocolate evens out on the spoon.

To decorate the spoon with a snowman, add three mini marshmallows to the spoon. Use the one with the orange sprinkle nose for the top. Dip a toothpick into the chocolate and place a dab onto the back of two mini chocolate chips. Gently and quickly place above the nose on the marshmallow. The chocolate will be hot and the mini chocolate chips will start to melt if you wait too long. Next, using a toothpick, place a dab of the white chocolate on the middle mini marshmallow. Then place three or four small round sprinkles for the snowman's buttons. I got the idea for the snowman from this blog, but added my own twist with the sprinkle nose & buttons.

Continue dipping spoons and sprinkle with crushed peppermint & holiday sprinkles. You can also use sanding sugar. I used a squeeze bottle to add some caramel to some of the spoons. ** When I wrapped the caramel spoon, some of the caramel stuck to the cellophane**

Lay spoons on a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper. Place decorated vintage spoons in the fridge for 30-60 minutes to set.

These turned out to my favorite. They were so beautiful specked with the spicy cayenne.

Chop the Mexican chocolate and place into a double boiler. Add two tablespoons of half & half. Stir frequently until the chocolate melts. It won't be as fine & velvety as the other chocolate. It will be a little thick, similar to a brownie batter. Dip the vintage spoons into the Mexican chocolate and make sure to coat the back of the spoon. Sprinkle with cayenne. Place in the fridge for 30 minutes to set.

Gift Wrap & Share the Love!
