I made this fun humidifier using a readily available humidifier circuit board.

Supplies

  1. Humidifier circuit
  2. Flashing LED
  3. 3D printed parts

Design and 3D Printing

For the design, I looked up, for an available model of Venusaur and modified it as per my requirement. The design has two major parts, one is the venusaur itself with a hole for the humidifier plates and LED (fig 1), another part being the reservoir for the humidifier with the electronics(fig 2). All the parts were printed using PLA, the reservoir is printed using transparent PLA.

Electronics

The electronics are pretty simple as I'm using a ready-made humidifier board. The addition here is just a 5mm flashing LED. LED is connected to the power terminal of the humidifier board through a 220 ohm resistor.

Assembly

Assembly 1 Drawing 1.jpeg

Assembly is done in the following steps

  1. Mount the humidifier plates and led light to the wick holder as shown in the above figure
  2. Next, add a cotton wick inside and slide in the venusaur
  3. Mount the humidifier board to the top lid using M3.5 self-tap screws as shown in the figure
  4. Route the wires from the holder to the lid as shown through the groves on the holder.
  5. The board can be powered on using a 5v power source.
  6. Fill the reservoir with water
