Veliko Tarnovo TV Coaxil Mod
So if you are bulgarian and don't have access to a actually good television and are stuck with one made in Bitova Elektronika in Tarnovo you'll notice they dont have a coaxil port thats okay tho I was in the same situation and heres how to modify one this applies to all (Sofia 21, 31, Tarnovo 85, 84).
Supplies
Soldering equipment
A tv from veliko tarnovo
Coaxil input
Opening the Television
Usually this is very easy just unscrew 4 screws on the back plate and it falls off. Keep in mind to discharge the television if you are unaware how to do this take a screwdriver and a clip on wire alligator clip whatever and clip it on the metal part of the screwdriver and the other end on the chassis and put it under the high voltage cup. They usually discharge really quickly usually a minute after powering off.
How to do this with a sofia 31:
This tv is more complex to open like a puzzle you have to unscrew 4 screws 2 being inside of the handle and 2 being on the outside. After that pull it back you may notice the antenna is whats keeping you from opening it take your screwdriver and push the antenna of the tv forward and then push the back panel off walla you are nearly there
The Hard Part
Now this requires a LOT of explaining and context so stay with me.
Veliko Tarnovo tvs usually are built the same way with identical circutry for this example ill be showing you a sofia 31 which is the same but not color and some minor uninteresting differences nobody cares about, ciricutry speaking they are the same.
You may notice 3 cages inside of the tv one of them is the high voltage cage if you are unsure if it is the high voltage cage you can test by seeing a wire that leads to the kinoscope aka the high voltage cup.
Another cage is a fat one that doesnt have much of interest you shouldnt poke there
The cage we will be focusing on is the signal cage which basically connects the tv to signal but since this is now unused cause analog doesnt really exist anymore we will focus on coaxil modding it.
- Get your coaxil port they are usually 1 wire ones so plus and minus doesnt rlly matter in this case but solder on a wire to your coaxil cable be careful not to overheat the elements
- Drill a hole for it, I made mine on the side of the tv for convinience sake
- You may see 2 prongs on the cage focus on the first one solder to it the wire
- Once you are done soldering reassemble the television and turn it on making sure it works
- Plug in a coaxil cable into the tv and relax and enjoy
