Veggie Burgers
Are you a vegetarian? Do you ever feel left out when your family or friends are having burgers and you can't get any? Well not anymore! This bean burger is guaranteed to taste good and is cheap to make. Never again will you long for a burger. The ingredients needed to make this burger are:
- 150g of kidney beans
- 100g of brown lentils
- a few pinches of salt
- 1 onion, diced
- a drizzle of olive oil
- 1 egg
Now just follow these easy steps to make this delicious burger!!
Soak the lentils in a bowl with water covering all of the lentils for an hour.
Kidney beans are usually bought in a can so this step is not needed for the beans :-)
Cook the lentils in a pot in water for 30-40 minutes or until the lentils go soft.
Halfway through add a pinch of salt to the pot.
Drain the lentils and pour in a bowl along with the kidney beans.
Mix them around a bit with a wooden spoon before proceeding.
Dice the onion is small, even cubes.
If you are under the age of 14 get an adult to help you with this step.
Cook the diced onion in a frying pan with olive oil covering the bottom on high heat.
At the end the onions should be golden brown.
Add the onions to the cooked lentils and beans and mix in a food processor.
A bigger food processor would be better as I had to process my burger mixture in two batches because my food processor is quite small.
Break an egg into a bowl and mix it with a fork until all of the egg is the same colour.
Then add the egg to the mixture and mix it further.
Form 4 burgers.
Put them on a lightly greased baking tray and sprinkle salt on them.
Cook for 10 minutes at 170°C in the oven.
Take them out when they are fairly solid but don't leave them for too long or they will become dry.
Finished
Enjoy your burgers!!
You can treat these like normal burgers so feel free to put them on a bun and add some cheese!!
