So, this weekend it was raining which resulted in me not being able to order dinner for myself. And, I'm not much of a cooking person; I only cook things which require very less ingredients and don't need too many utensils. Why less utensils? Well, that's because I do not want to spend the rest of the evening doing the dishes. 😅

So, I ended up making this sandwich for myself. It's pretty easy to make, doesn't take much time, less ingredients, less utensils, and tastes delicious. So, what's not to love!

Supplies

Ingredients

  • Bread slices - I made three sandwiches so I used 6 slices of bread
  • Cheese slices - One for each sandwich, so I used 3 cheese slices
  • Onion - I used a medium sized one.
  • 1/2 cup sweet corn - I used frozen corn as that is what I had
  • Butter
  • Mayonnaise - I used veg mayonnaise
  • Chat masala

Tools

  • Saucepan - I used it for thawing the sweetcorn and then reused it for mixing all the contents while making the filling.
  • Pan - For grilling the sandwich. You can use a griddle if you have one.
  • Turner - For flipping the sandwich while grilling it.

Prep the Ingredients

There are just two things to be done to prep up our ingredients.

  1. Thaw the sweet corn - This step is required if you are using frozen sweet corn. To thaw the sweet corn, I just put it into a cup of hot water and let it cool for 5 to 10 min.
  2. Chop the onion - The onion needs to be finely chopped so that it is easy to spread it over the bread slices.

Prepare the Filling

In a bowl, add the sweet corn, chopped onion, a tablespoon of mayonnaise and a pinch of chat masala. Mix it well. That's all there is to the filling 😄

Lay It All on the Bread

  • Take a tablespoon of your filling and spread it evenly on a slice of bread.
  • Put a slice of cheese over the filling.
  • Cover this with another slice of bread.

Let's Grill It

Heat a pan a bit. Add a bit of butter to the hot pan. The butter might just vaporise, which is fine. Put your sandwich on the heated pan. Spread butter on the top side of the top slice. After about 20 seconds, flip it over with a turner. Spread butter on this surface too. After about another 20 seconds flip it over. Do this to get a good golden surface on both the top surfaces of the sandwich. This indicates that it is properly cooked.

Repeat the Process and Serve

Well, one sandwich is done. Go on, finish making your other sandwiches by repeating steps 3 and 4. Then enjoy it with ketchup or just on its own.
