Variable Solution Puzzle

I was told that the tangled washer I made previously was so easy to solve. Hence I made a puzzle with a variable level of difficulty. You can set this puzzle to be solved easily by your friend with average IQ or set it difficult for your other demanding friends.

This project is made of the following items.

• Two pieces water bottle caps
• 622 mm(24-1/2") long - 1.6 mm (1/16") diameter nylon string. Here I use string from ear plus. The dimension needs not to be accurate.

The tools needed are the following.

• scissor
• Multi tool with knife
• Drill with 5 mm (3/16") and 3.2 mm (1/8") drill bit

1. Remove the top of one of the plastic water bottle cap as shown using the knife. Be careful not to cut or injure you finger. Wear leather gloves while doing this. This bottle cap will look somehow like a ring. Drill 5 mm diameter holes on the opposite side. We will name this part as the "Ring".

2. Take the other cap and drill 3.2 mm diameter holes on the opposite side and drill another 5 mm diameter holes perpendicular to the 3.2 mm diameter holes. We will call this part as the "Anchor"

1. Fold the the string at the middle. We will call the folded part as the 'Loop".
2. Insert both ends of the string to one hole of the ring. Note: insert string from the out side of the ring.
3. Insert both ends of the string to the loop.
4. Insert both ends of the string to the other hole of the ring. Note: insert string from the inside of the ring.
5. Pull both ends of the string to tighten its grip on the ring.
6. Insert both ends of the string to the larger holes of the anchor all the way through.
7. Separate the ends of the string and insert each on the remaining smaller holes and make a knot to prevent them from unraveling.

1. Pinch the loop, pull to extend and and insert from the inside to the hole opposite it original location.
2. Pull the loop again to extend pass it over the anchor to free it.
3. Remove the ring from the string.
