Valentine's Fortune Cookies Homemade
In this Instructable I will show you how to make your very own Fortune Cookies
Just like the ones at any Chinese restaurant
Every time my wife and I go to a Chinese restaurant, we always look forward to the Fortune Cookies at the end
My wife loves the fortunes Inside even though some are confusing :)
So this Valentine's Day, I decided to make my own fortune cookies with my own fortunes
When we tried them out they were easy and quick to make
You could write anything inside these fortunes
These Fortune Cookies also have the same crispyness of the original ones
I will definitely be making these again

Ingredients
2 egg whites
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
3 tablespoons canola oil
1/2 cup of flour

Pinch of salt
1 1/2 teaspoons of cornstarch
Red food color
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 tablespoons canola oil
1/2 cup of flour

Steps for the Fortune Cookie Batter
In a medium bowl add in two egg whites
Next add in the vanilla and almond extract
Also add in the canola oil
Grab a whisk and start whisking the mixture until it is bubbly and frothy
You do not need stiff peaks
Set aside the egg mixture
In a separate bowl, add in the flour and sugar
Also add in your salt and cornstarch
Whisk the dry ingredients all together until combined
Next add in al, of the dry ingredients into the wet ingredient and whisk
It may look thick so add in 1 tablespoon of water and continue to whisk

Baking the Cookies
If you want to add small red hearts into the Fortune Cookies
Color a small amount of batter in a bowl and add in a few drops of food color
Mix until combined and colored
Pour the colored batter into a piping bag and snip a small hole at the end
Now for the actual Fortune Cookies:
Get a sheet of wax paper and place in into a pan
Spray oil onto the paper
Grab a spoon and pour a small amount of batter into each corner of the batter
Make only four cookies at a time because they harden quickly
Spread out the batter into a thin circle
If you make them too thick they will not harden and they will easily crack
Next if you want to add small red hearts to the Fortune Cookies, pipe thin small circles all over the round cookie batter
Grab a toothpick pick any red dot you want to start with
Start at any angle of the red dot
Start a couple of centimeters away from the red dot and drag the toothpick across the red dot and go all around the cookie, dragging the toothpick through all of the hearts
Make sure to clean the toothpick after each cookie
Place the pan into the oven and bake the cookies for 6-8 minutes on 350 degrees or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown

Shaping the Cookies
Write out fortunes on strips of paper long as the Fortune Cookies
Place the Fortune into the hot cookie and bent the cookie carefully in half
Next get a cup and quickly bent the edge of the Fortune cookie over the edge of the cup
When you have shaped the cookie, place the cookie into a cup so it can hold its shape and cool
When shaping the cookies:
Get them right out of the oven and scrape them off the wax paper
Work quickly so they do not cool and harden
