Put  liners into cupcake tins set aside.

Gather ingredients for batter, such as box mix,  eggs, water,  oil etc....

Follow directions on box mix or recipe.

Have marbles ready to put into tins.

Mixing Batter

Mix batter according  to box directions or recipe.

Scoop spoon fulls of batter into each cupcake slot, fill about 2/3 full,
Do not over fill.
If  it is too full the cupcakes will not have a heart shape.

To make the heart shape place the marble between the liner and tin.

Note: I found that  putting  the marble in  after the batter worked better for me.

Baking With Marbles

Bake Cupcakes  at 350 degrees or as per directions on box or recipe, bake  for about 20-25 minutes.

Test for done-ness  - stick a tooth pick in  a cupcake - no batter on stick means "done"
or if it springs back when you lightly touch top of  a cupcake it is done.

After cupcakes are baked, and while they are still warm push  a chocolate kiss point side down first into the center of each cupcake.

Note: I used Kisses with almonds. For an extra surprise.

Preparing Icing

Allow cupcakes to cool completely before applying icing.

Pink icing: Whether you are using "store-bought" or your favorite icing recipe you can color the icing.

With either the paste or liquid type food color it only takes a tiny bit to color,  always start with a tiny bit of color... because it is easy to add more but almost impossible to lighten.

Red Color Note: If you want a true "red" use the paste type color  because the liquid red could make your icing runny and hard to work with.

For a quick pastry bag use a plastic sandwich bag or similar bag. Fill the bag with icing, to make for easy filling of the bag but it over a glass or cup to hold it in place, while you add icing.

After filling the bag squeeze icing toward one corner of the bag.

Make  A Tiny Cut: Now  that the icing is in the bag cut a tiny bit of the tip off the bag "a snip"...

Note: I said tiny snip because  if you need a bigger hole cut it again it easier to cut more off  than change bags.

Make  dollops ( dots) of icing  on tops of the cupcakes  to cover the tops of each cup cake.
Finish with Message Heart Candies or other decorations.

Enjoy and share  Heart Shape Cupcakes with a Surprise Kiss!!

"Happy Valentines Day!"
