Making Holes

I had some plants to get into the earth, and as the soil was very dry, the dirt kept falling back, and the hole was widening all the time.
So I decided to limit the width by inserting an old mason bucket with the bottom removed and excavate from inside with my shop vac.

The first holes was made fast and easy, but of course you will find roots and stones somewhere.

Some old bricks had to be removed here, and ordinary garden tools made quick work as the vac removed all free dirt.
Empty the Separator

My homemade separator has limited capacity, so I had to empty it after each hole.
Digging is hard work, but this way it is much easier.
