Vacuum Cleaner Robot - How to Fix the Front Wheel
And one day when we woke up, we found our robot vacuum cleaner broken.
He had lost a wheel.
We have no choice to fix it.
Let's do it !!!
We Start the Work
First of all, we look for the tools that we are going to need:
- PH1 screwdriver
- PH3 screwdriver
- Brush
- Metal pointer (to remove the metal flange of the wheel)
- Black marker (to mark the wires)
We disassemble the rotary brush and take the opportunity to clean everything with a damp cloth.
Before cleaning, it is mandatory to disconnect the battery.
Remove Screws
Now, we have everything clean.
We proceed to remove the screws.
To remove the front of the robot it is not necessary to completely remove the screws. Taking them out of their housing halfway is enough to comfortably remove the front. Here we use a PH1 screwdriver.
For the rest of the screws we will use a PH3 screwdriver.
Remove the Top Cover
Be careful when removing the top cover, because there is a cable that is connected to the LIDAR.
Once opened, the rubber that isolates the air outlet was unglued.
We will take the opportunity to place it well.
Motherboard
Take the opportunity to vacuum and clean the dust inside the robot, and especially from the motherboard.
Taking a photo of the motherboard is a very good idea, to remember how the wires were placed.
When removing the motherboard we find a factory glued wire. We will remove this, and we will be careful not to damage the connector.
At the end, we can already see the wheel flange.
Remove and Fit New Wheel
The metal flange of the wheel will be removed with a metal pointer.
It is removed without force.
The old wheel has two PET bushings.
We have to reuse them for the new wheel.
Then we put the wheel back in place, with the flange on top.
Rust Stain
When reassembling everything in its place, we detected a stain of rust on a connector.
We will take the opportunity to clean it with cotton and an apolar cleaning liquid.
The End
We finished our repair job this week.
For less than 8USD and 20 minutes of work, we have repaired our robot vacuum cleaner.
Buying a new one would have cost 450USD.
Send it to the technical service about 120SD.
As you can see, repairing a small appliance is something simple, and we can all do it yourself.
Do not hesitate to try it to acquire skill.
