VW Mini Bus Model From Cardboard Box

We usually throw away the cardboard boxes we get . We never think of reusing it or making something out of it. In this instructable I will show you how to make a old volkswagen Mini Bus Model from cardboard box.

Materials used:-
- scissors
- glue ( fevicol or any other )
- pencil
- ruler
- paint ( I have used acrylic paint )
- paint brushes
- permanent markers ( black & red )
- cardboard box ( * not much thick.Thin cardboard will be easy to fold and will give more perfection .I have used a box of Corn flakes.)

I have not used any blue print for dimensions . I have just drawn them myself by looking some images of the bus from internet. ( so it isn't exactly like the real one .Also I have added some changes to it like wide fenders).I have included the image of the template which I have drawn.
First draw the template on the cardboard and cut them out using scissors.
Then stick the edges accordingly to the correct sides.

For the roof rack first cut out a long strip ( as shown in first image ). Then bend it and make into a square. While bending make sure it is correct size for the top of the bus.Dont make it larger.Then stick it on the top.
We need something to keep in the roof rack.For that we will make two bags.First draw the template ( third image ) and cut it out.
Fold it as shown in fourth image and stick the edges.Similarly make one more and paint them.
I have also made a small surf board .For making the surfing board you can just draw and cut the shape of surfing board and paint it according to your idea.

For making perfect fenders follow these steps.
First draw the curve of wheel arch( first image ).
Then increase the curve slightly and as shown in second image( drawn with blue pen ). Then draw one more line above like a crescent moon shape ( as shown in third image in black colour ).Now cut out the shape and slightly bend it as shown in fifth image.Now you can stick the fender over the wheel arch( adjust the position correctly ).Now the fenders are ready.

For making the tyres first draw and cut out 4 circles of 1.5 cm radius as shown in first image.Now make 4 strips as shown in second image.cut the edge of the strip in zig zag design and stick it around the circle. Now you can paint your tyres.I have painted it like vintage whitewall tyres.

You can paint your bus in your favourite colour.I have used yellow acrylic paint . If you apply a white layer before you paint it will be neat . After painting you can add details to the windows and doors using a pen.Also add a small VW logo and number plate.

Now everything is ready.After the paint becomes dry you can stick the tyres using gum.Now you can arrange your bags and surf board on the roof rack.

The VW mini bus model is ready just from a cardboard box . Let's take it out and click some photos.
