Using Type-C for Any Project!!

In this project I will discuss about using Type-C for any project. As Type-C is becoming universal using Type-C will be very useful and better.

Any type of USB Type-C break out board. Most of them have all pins listed but few of them have only the power pins.

Connecting the Pins

USB Type-C has 12 pins (24 in total but 12 mirrored front and back that is the reason direction does not matter for Type-C) 4 GND pins and 4 VBUS pins.

The VBUS and GND pins are power and the return paths for the signals. The default VBUS voltage is 5 V but the standard allows the devices to negotiate and choose a VBUS voltage other than the default value. The Power Delivery allows VBUS to have a voltage up to 20 V. The maximum current could be also raised up to 5 A. Hence, the USB Type-C could deliver a maximum power of 100 W.

In simple terms connect VBUS and GND to 5V and GND of our project and you will be good to go. For general purposes we only 5V adapters

Or use VBUS for 20V and 5A just connect VBUS and GND for your PWR and GND.
