Upholstered Foot Stool
This project started out as something to tinker with, then it took form. If you’re looking for something to do over the weekend or even as gift ideas, this works well. I wanted to try upholstery before I tried it on something more costly, definitely easier than I thought.
Best wishes to everyone!

Supplies
Supplies needed:
Furniture grade 2x4 (1, maybe two depending on personal needs, height, etc.)
1- pre cut square pine or wood of your choice (this surface area should be wide enough to fit both feet comfortably).
Staple gun
4-shelving “L” shaped brackets (used on legs to gain additional structural integrity).
Power Drill
Batting
Upholstery foam
Fabric
Spray adhesive
Hot glue gun
Glue sticks for glue gun (I used 3 smaller sticks)
Wood screws
Furniture tassels (adds a cleaner edge, while hiding staples to keep the fabric pulled tight).

Foot Stool Frame
Firstly, determine how high you need your foot stool to be, then leave room for an additional 4-6 inches of foam when upholstering. This will be your stool height.
Now cut four legs to attach to the bottom of the pre-cut square that you have, after be sure to sand smooth any rough bits.
Attach the four legs to the pre-cut square using sturdy screws.
Then flip the stool over and use the “L” brackets to further secure the legs to the frame.

Upholstery Fun
Using your spray adhesive to attach your foam cushion to your stool. You can choose to completely cover the top, or off center and leave an edge around the cushion like I did.
Once I sprayed it, I let it sit for 15 minutes.
Once dry and the cushion doesn’t move, measure and cut a piece of batting to cover your cushion.
Spray the top and sides of foam cushion to adhere batting. Take your time to be sure the corners are neat and uniform. Let dry for 15 minutes.
Once dry, measure and cut your fabric of choice, I chose a beautiful bee fabric I found.
Next spray a light coat of spray adhesive on the batting top, and place your pre-cut fabric down and allow to dry.
Once dry, using a staple gun, begin to attach the fabric tightly around the parameter of the wooden frame, taking care to keep the corners and sides as uniform as possible. I stapled once side, then the opposite side, to get a tight pull.
Once the fabric is attached, use a hot glue gun to begin attaching the furniture tassels to the edge, this will hide the staples, and give a fun contrast.
