Unique Name Tag

A great way to make an original and modern name tag.

I experimented a lot with acrylic (I wanted to make a volumetric image in it) and came to the following conclusions:
1 - it is best to do some text in it. Pictures are worse.

2 - Better to work with vector files. With raster images, everything changes every time.

Supplies

- DPSS laser

- galvoscanator

- acrylic from 4 mm thick.

- EzCad

- CorelDraw

Development

First you need to decide on the size of the name tag.

I measured them on another name tag. Length 90 mm, width 55 mm.

Based on these dimensions, I made a name tag in CorelDraw, it contains the name of the company, first and last name, contact information. I wanted to add a QR code (which would contain all the information), but I could not make it contrast enough for the phone to read it.

I think that's enough Then we save it in .dxf format for further work in EzCad.

Focusing

We take an unnecessary piece of acrylic into the working area and empirically set the focus in the center, in the depths of the acrylic. I recommend experimenting, as it won't be easy to calculate the focus. We should see micro-explosions inside the acrylic.

Parameters

When the focus is set, we put a new acrylic on which we will determine the parameters for work. I recommend doing it exactly on the model that we will engrave.

Centering. Dxf file into EzCad. Then we fill in the same way. Now it is also necessary to determine the parameters empirically. All engraving consists of two parts. First, prepare the acrylic at a slower speed. Then we apply the required text at a higher speed.

I got the best result with:

- power 50%; speed 500 mm / s; reps 5
- power 50%; speed 800 mm / s; reps 4

Now we run the same file with known parameters on pure acrylic. Here is the result.

Then, for more accuracy, I cut it out with a CO2 laser and attached a mount.

In a similar way, I also made a keychain icon.
