Unicorn Headband

Do you love unicorns and sparkles, well you've come to the right place! Let's get crafty and put together a unicorn headband, don't forget the glitter!

Let's start with supplies, you'll need:

• 3x A4 sheets of felt
• glitter glue
• hairband/Aliceband
• scissors
• embroidery thread
• needle and thread/sewing machine
• stuffing material
• hot glue gun
• template

The first thing that you want to do is print out the template, I then made sturdier templates out of card, just for ease.

I also took the felt for the horn and spread the glitter glue evenly over it, then left it to dry while making the ears.

Outline your templates.

After drawing out your ear shapes you should have had four pieces, here I used pink for the outside and blue for the inner ear. You don't have to, I just like the difference.

Put the blue felt on top of the pink piece and stitch along the inside, approximately half a centimeter inside.

Only stitch four sides, we want to keep the bottom open, so that we have this pocket shape.

When that's done, take your scissors and cut away the three points, you want to round them odd so that there are no bulges when they are the right way around.

Open out your pocket shape and flatten it so that your seam is down the middle, pin it together.

We need to leave a gap so that we can still turn out unicorn ear inside out.

Stitch one inch on one side. Then stitch about 5/8ths across the other. We don't want the stitching to join.

Leave about an inch gap, that will be enough to turn it inside out.

Once the right way around, stitch together the opening.

Poke the inner ear into the outer ear fabric, thus making a proper unicorn ear shape.

Cut out the unicorn horn and base template.

Fold over, right side to right side, then stitch it together creating a cone shape.

Turn inside out, so that it is the right way around.

Take your embroidery thread and pierce through the inside of the cone, so that the thread is poking out of the top of the cone.

Stuff the cone with plush stuffing/wadding, lightly stuff, we don't want it to be too tough.

Stitch the circular base onto the bottom of the cone.

Take your embroidery thread, with a firm grip on your cone, wrap the thread from the top to the base, creating a horn shape.

I found it useful to rotate the horn as I wrapped, it made a better shape without hurting the hands.

When the thread is at the base, stitch it into the base, to secure the horn's shape.

Gather the hairband/headband, horn and pair of ears.

Plug in the hot glue gun.

Glue the horn and ears to the headband.

Et Voila!

You have a beautiful, sparkly unicorn headband!
