"tm36usa" posted this in July 2006. I finally got around to making one in April 2009 because I do a lot of traveling to motels that claim 'FREE WIRELESS INTERNET". It may be free, but it's garbage most of the time. I have been know to walk around the motel room with my laptop to find a half-way good signal. One time I even walked around the parking lot to get one. Using my laptop in the bathroom or on the grass in front of the motel sucks.
$1.00 for the strainer and 50 cents for the USB adaptor. Check out the "Wire boxes" at your local thrift shop.
I constructed this model by using tm36usa's instructions and made a few modifications along the way. I will be trying out the finished project at the end of the month in Albuquerque.
I'll help you in anyway I can if you have a question. <justj@mail.com> .
Also look me up om eBay <justj700> if you need USED BOWLING Pins.

Cutting the Hole

I used a rotary tool (Dremel) with a cut-off disk to cut a rectangle hole ( the USB adapter is rectangle).
Install and Seal Adapter

I then fitted the USB adapter into the rectangle hole, added a zip tie and used All-Purpose silicone to hold it in place. I then hung it upside down by the wire for 24 hours to let it cure.
Mount to Tripod

I then found the right size nut to match the tripod bold, drilled the hole and fitted it together. I used an alligator clip to hold the wings in place instead of zip ties so I can adjust the pick up area and fold it down for packing in luggage.
