Now I know what you're thinking...But don't go quite yet! Even though this stuff looks disgusting, it's actually going to become the most treasured thing in your bathroom!

I'm the kind of person who gets super dry skin in the winter (I mean, who doesn't?) so this is my delicious smelling lifesaver that I use after every shower. It's kind of a mix between a sugar scrub, peeling mask, and lotion but depending on the essential oils you use, it can also provide other benefits such as anti-inflammatory properties or pain relief!

And if that wasn't good enough for you, it also only takes 2 minutes and 4 ingredients!

I hope you give this a try...You won't regret it :)

Supplies

  • Big heaping Tablespoon unrefined coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup demerara sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk, any fat content but full fat is best
  • Optional but highly recommended essential oils, I used lemongrass and frankincense

Mix the Liquids

The first step is to mix the wet stuff to be the least lumpy as possible. If your coconut oil is still solid like mine was and/or there's coconut cream at the top of your coconut milk (use that!), microwave your liquids until it's at least pretty smooth.

Put It All Together

Now just mix the coconut milk and coconut oil with the sugars and stir them together. It will seem too watery but once it cools down it and the coconut oil starts to solidify it will become a little thicker.

Now is also when you can add your essential oils. I used lemongrass and frankincense because I think they smell amazing with coconut but as a bonus, they also have anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties! Use whichever oils you'd like, or none at all.

Using the Goop

You can now use your goop!! After taking a shower, towel yourself dry and drizzle on some of the liquid with your fingers or a spoon. If it's super chunky, you can grab some of the oil and work it into your skin as well. The sugar granules help with removing dead skin and all the good fats make you super moisturized without feeling greasy. If you have a shower bench, it makes the application easier but if not just do it over the sink or sitting on the shower floor. It will be a bit sticky if you spill it though so keep that in mind.

After you've scrubbed your whole body, rinse it off in the shower and breathe in the lovely scent.

Store extra goop in the fridge because of the coconut milk (I've never had it mold, but just in case) and use your eyes and nose for deciding whether it's still good or not.
