UPCYCLED: Round Straw Bag From a Thrifted Basket
Here's a beautiful and trendy bag which you can make in a SUSTAINABLE way!
Watch the video tutorial or follow the written steps to see how you can make it yourself.
Supplies
- Round basket - I thrifted this for only €1 !!!
- Faux leather strap - I used an old belt for this
- Fabric for lining - I used an old tablecloth for this
- Button
- String
- Beige thread
- Needle
- Scissors
The Button Closure
Use string to tie a button to the bottom half of the basket.
Take 9 pieces of string, divide into 3 sections and braid each section.
Braid the 3 braids together and tie this to the lid of the basket in the shape of a loop.
The Strap
Sew the strap to either side of the basket (I used an old belt as a strap).
The Lining
Cut out a circle for each side of the basket and cut out a shape as shown in the picture.
Hem the straight edges of this shape.
Pin the circles onto this fabric and sew them on.
Hem the remaining raw edges of the circle.
Attaching the Lining
Sew one of the circles onto the inside of the basket using a running stitch.
The Hinge
Use string to create a hinge between the bottom and lid of the basket.
Finishing It Off
Sew the other side of the lining to the basket.
