Two-Toned Tie Dye Socks

Update your wardrobe with these fun red and blue tie dye socks. They're super easy to make and the two-tone look is a fun and unique tie dye pattern.

Supplies

  • Tie Dye Kit
  • White Cotton Socks
  • Rubber Bands
  • Plastic Bin
  • Plastic Wrap

Soak

Soak the socks in water and ring them out so they're wet, but not dripping.

Fold and Wrap

Fold the socks from the toe to heel in an accordion fold. (The photo shows the accordion fold, but in the opposite direction)

Then add rubber bands to secure it.

Make sure you do the same number of folds and place the rubber bands in the same place on both socks.

Mix Soda Ash

If your kit comes with soda ash, mix it up by combining 1 cup soda ash with 1 gallon warm water. Stir it until it's all dissolved.

Then soak the socks for 20 minutes.

Mix Dyes

Fill the dye bottles to the line with warm water. Shake them so the dye is completely dissolved.

Add First Color

Place a piece of plastic wrap on the table and put the socks on top.

Add your first color to half of the socks. Be sure to flip them over to get both sides.

Add Second Color

Add the second color on top. Be sure to get between the folds so there is enough dye.

Wrap and Set

Wrap the socks in the plastic wrap and let them set for at least 12 hours. I like to leave them for a full 24 hours to make sure the dye sets properly.

Rinse and Wash

Rinse off the socks and remove the rubber bands. Rinse until the water runs clear. Then run it through the washer and dryer.

Then your two-toned socks are complete!
