Two Strand Lanyard Knot (ABOK 784)

You can make this attractive knot as long as you want. You can use it to tie off two ends of a knotting project.
On its own it has many uses. Zipper pull, lanyard, luggage I.D. or anything else you can imagine.
I will show you here how to make three lengths shown in the photo.
Two Strand Lanyard Knot

Make a small loop and tie overhand knot.

Bring the left hand strand across on top of the loop, then bring right hand end across underneath.

Bring left hand end across on top and down through bight as shown, bring right hand end underneath and up through bight.

You can stop now and create the shortest knot. Bring the left hand end down through the left hand bight of the first overhand knot. Bring the right hand end up through the other bight. Tighten

Starting from step three take left hand cord across on top (second photo) and right hand end across underneath.

Bring left hand end across on top and down through bight and right hand end across underneath and up through bight.

If you stop now you will make the middle size knot. Bring the left hand end down through the left side bight of the first overhand knot and the right hand end up through them other bight. Pull tight. To continue . . . . . . .

Bring left side end across on top and right hand end across underneath (second photo)

Left hand end goes across and down through bight. Right end goes across and up through bight

Left hand end down through left side bight of first overhand knot. Right hand end up through other bight. Tighten.
To lengthen the knot do not bring the ends through the bights of the overhand knot.. Repeat steps 8 and 9 until the desired length is made. Then bring the ends through the bights of the first overhand knot as shown in left hand photo
