`Two Strand Hair Twisting on Child

IMG-2266.jpg

Having a child with a head full of hair and trying to decide what to do with it was a hard task for me. I have three boys and when my oldest boys reached the age of 1 years old I cut their hair because I didn't know how to braid and just didn't have the time. But when I had my baby boy me and his dad decided to keep his hair and I would try and learn how to braid or plat his hair. I never learned how to braid but I learned how to do more things to his hair and It's been going great thus far. My son loves to get his hair done and gets excited when I add beads to his finished style. This is the process of washing his hair and styling it with plats and beads.

First I start by taking previous plats down that have been up for about a week or two. Carefully remove the rubber bands from each individual plat making sure not to damage his hair. Take the water bottle and spray on the hair from root to end. Carefully detangling and removing any accumulated lint that was left on his hair with a wide toothed comb. This process is tedious because if you don't detangle you could risk having tangled hair while washing and that's not good.

When you have detangled each individual plat and you can brush or comb through the hair without resistance you are ready to wash the hair. My son is 2 so I wash his hair in the tub while he is playing and taking a bath, but this process can also be done in the sink.

Section hair in four parts with two plats in the front and two plats in the back. Washing hair in section helps by keeping the hair separated so when you start to wash the child's hair it want get tangled and it will be more manageable. Wash hair with luke warm water. As you are washing the child's hair use the scalp massager brush to massage the scalp and this also helps remove access dirt or lint u may have missed when you detangled the hair. Start from the roots and work your way to the ends of the hair one section at a time. When all sections have been messaged and access dirt has been removed. Then wash each section with luke warm water using a cup, Pour water on to the hair and wash until all conditioner is out of the head. Take the towel and dry the hair off before starting next step.

Now that you have washed the hair its time to oil the scalp and apply curling pudding to the hair. Start by taking the comb and parting the hair from the front hair line to the back hair line. It doesn't matter what side you start on I start from the right and continue this process until I reach the other side of the head trying to make sure your parts are as straight as possible.. You then part the hair once again on the right side and the other portion of hair you have to put it in a pony tail so it want get tangled in the plats your making. Take a section and part it and apply a dime sized portion of curling pudding and rub into hair, with the hair still in your hand apply a rubber band to the hair to form a plat. With that plat you divide the hair into two sections and begin to two strand twist the hair. After the twist has formed apply another rubber band to keep the twisted hair into place. You continue to repeat this process until you the desired amount of twist plats you want.

When all your twist plats have been formed you are ready to apply the beads. This is an optional thing if you want to use beads if you have daughters you can use barrettes as well. The amount of beads you put on the ends of the hair depends on how long the twist plat may be, I use five beads on each twist plat. Apply the beads to the hair leaving a small amount of hair so that you will be able to secure the beads to the plat. Take the rubber band and the access hair and wrap it around the bead until it's secure. Continue this process until all twist plats have beads. When you are finished place a scarf or bonnet on the hair to keep it well groomed this is optional as well. This style last about a week for my son depending on if he keeps his scarf on or not, this is my go to style every other week.
