Two-Fabric Mobius

Using the first Mobius Scarf Instructable I made a while ago, I decided that most people (like children) would love a mobius with two different fabrics like these. So if you would like to make a two-fabric mobius simply use this instructable in conjunction with my first mobius instructable

For one scarf, you will need.
- 1/2 yard of soft or cozy fabric
- 1/2 yard of different fabric (either contrasting or complementing)
- scissors
- chalk
- pins
- sewing machine
- matching thread
- about an hour

For this project, I wanted the monsters to be facing a certain way so I cut the fabric across the yard instead of up/down. To cut it exactly in half, I folded the monster fabric, print side out, and marked with chalk. Then I did the same with the orange plaid.

Now that you have two halves of the monsters and two halves of the plaid. Take one half of the monsters and one half of the plaid, lay them right sides together, pin along one edge.

Then take the other half of the monster fabric and the other half of the plaid fabric, right sides together and pin them together though this time make sure you have them pinned in the opposite direction as the first one, in order to create a neat effect when finished.

Sew the seams of the first half of the fabrics. I used a 5/8 seam allowance for most of the project.
Sew the seams of the second half of the fabrics.


Then open up both halves. Put them right sides together and pin along the edges. Then sew the seam.

Now you have a really long piece of fabric.

Fold this fabric in half along the longest side, right sides together. Pin the edges together and sew this with a 5/8 seam. You should now have a great big long tube of fabric. Flip this right sides out.

Now lay the tube out and turn one end of it once.
Then line up the ends, and sew inside them, as far around as you can manage without stretching the material.

When finished you should a nearly complete mobius with a small opening at the end.
To finish the mobius you will have to hand sew, with careful and small stitches, the opening.

Now your mobius is complete. Enjoy and make sure that if you make this for children that the fabrics are safe, non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and comfortable.
