Turning an Old Pallet Into a Recycling Bin Holder
Recycling bins can take up valuable space in your home or garage. Here’s how to make a simple recycling bin holder.
Supplies
- Pallet
- Skill Saw
- Pry Bar
- Hammer
- Cordless Drill
- Deck screws
- Gloves
- Safety glasses
- Recycling bins
Take Apart Pallets
Pry off the top and bottom deck boards, pick the 8 best deck boards. (you will need these later).
Measurements
Based on the size of the recycling bin, determine the lengths of the cuts needed. Measure and mark the deck boards, short boards and long boards. Cut the boards to the following lengths.
Runners 23.25”, with the bottom of the cutout at 17.5”. (This will serve as a ledge to hold the bottom bin).
Long board 20.5”
Short board 16.5”
(All the deck boards are 3.25” wide)
Cutting
First, remove the nails from the deck boards, then cut the boards to the measurements above. ^^^
Assemble
Using deck screws, attach short deck boards to the inside of the runners at the bottom and at the top of the cut out. (Both sides of runners)
Use the long boards to connect the two sides making sure you have 16.5” between the insides of the runners.
All Done!
Insert recycling bins, and enjoy your extra space.
