Turn Your Phone Into a GPS Using K'nex!

Imagine this: your lost in the wilderness on a lonely back road. You have no idea where you are and no way to find out. If only you had a way to find your way home! Luckily, you still have your cell phone and a box of K'nex in the trunk. It's time to make the (emergency) K'nex GPS/phone holder! This holder works for any rectangular device, such as the HTC EVO, iPhone, or Droid.* This can also be used as a dashcam to take video of any notable incidents while driving.

You will need: 16 white connectors; 8 blue connectors; 11 yellow connectors; 10 grey connectors; 8 green connectors; 14 red connectors; 75 green rods; 52 white rods; 5 blue rods; 4 black caps; 5 blue separators; 4 grey separators; 6 blue caps; and 2 green bendy rods.

Build the back of the base, and add white rods. Next make two restraining beams and add them where shown.

Blue Rods

Add two blue rods to the case. Add a grey separator and a blue cap to each blue rod on the front of the case (the side with the restraint beams). On the back side, add two blue separators and a grey separator to each blue rod.

Build this piece, and add a blue rod with a black cap as shown. Next, attach it to the case via the two side blue rods. Make sure the center white connector is facing outwards. Add black caps to the two blue rods on the sides.

Attach to Base

Attach the case to the base by inserting the center blue rod on the case through the center hole in the neck piece. Next, add a blue separator and a black cap.

Green Rods

Add a blue cap to each green rod. Next, insert it through the topmost red connectors on the case, and connect it where shown on the base.

Rotating the Holder

To rotate the holder, take the blue caps on the green bendy rods off and pull the green rods out of the topmost red connectors. Then, rotate the case, and slide the green rods through the new topmost red connectors. Finally, put the blue caps back on the green rods.
