Turn Overripe Bananas Into Chocolate Ice Cream!

If you ever have too many ripe bananas on hand, freeze them for delicious one ingredient ice cream! This ice cream is so healthy you can eat it for breakfast as an alternative to a smoothie! :)

Ingredients

Overripe bananas (make sure they are very spotty like the picture so that the sugar content is high)

High speed blender or food processor

Cacao powder

Optional:

add in different fruits or powders to create different flavors!

Make sure to peel and chop them first! Once frozen, it is VERY difficult to peel them. (I learned that the hard way.)

Freeze overnight in sealed container.

Blend

Put frozen banana pieces into a high speed blender. (I have a Vitamix but other high speed blenders or food processors also work.) Blend until whipped and creamy.

If using Vitamix, use tamper to move the nice cream around. You will want to do this on the highest setting and using the tamper helps get all of the bananas to a smooth consistency. It also helps keep the motor from over heating.

If you are using a food processor. Pause a few times to smash down the edges and turn the nice cream with a spatula so that everything is even.

Optional Flavor

Almost anything goes with bananas! For my recipe I added in frozen cherries and raw cacao powder to imitate a cherry garcia ice cream.

Other great additions that I have tried are peanut butter powder, vanilla powder, carob powder, frozen mangoes, frozen strawberries, green tea matcha powder, cacao nibs, blended date sauce, frozen berries, etc.

The options are really endless!
