Tunisian Pebbles Dishcloth Pattern Detail

Material:

• US-J/10, 6.00mm Tunisian or Afghan hook
• 53 yds worsted weight cotton (Lily Sugar’n Cream in Peace shown)
• Size: To change the size of the finished cloth, work in multiples of 2.

Instructions:

Row 1: (Tunisian Foundation Row 1) Ch 20. Then working into the second loop from the hook, insert the hook and pull up a loop from each chain to the end. (20 loops)

Row 2: (Tunisian Foundation Row 2) Yo and pull through the first loop.*Yarn over and pull through 2 loops, repeating from * to end. (1 loop left on hook)

Row 3: (Forward Pass same as Tunisian Simple Stitch): Insert hook under the second vertical loop from the previous row. Yarn over and pull up a loop. Repeat in each remaining vertical loop to the end. For the last vertical loop you can go under just the one front as before, or under both loops – try both and see which you like better.

Row 4: (Return Pass – Pebble Stitch): Yo and pull through the first loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops. *Ch 3, [yo and pull through 2 loops] twice. Repeat from * to end.

Row 5: Repeat Row 3, making sure to tuck each 3 ch loop beneath the hook as you work so they stick out the front (see below).

Row 6: (Return Pass – Pebble Stitch): Yo and pull through the first loop. *[Yarn over and pull through 2 loops] twice, ch 3. Repeat from * until there are 2 loops left on hook, yo and pull through last 2 loops. (Note that these 3ch loops are offset from the previous.)

Rows 7 – 40: Repeat Rows 3 – 6 eight times, then repeat Rows 3 and 4 once more. (19 rows of pebbles made)

Tunisian Single Crochet Bind Off Instructions:

Insert hook under the second vertical loop from the previous row. Yarn over and pull up a loop, then yo again and pull through both loops (just as for a regular sc st). Repeat in each remaining vertical loop to the end.

Edging Instructions:

Using the Bind Off as the first section of the edging, continue to sc down the left side, bottom (chain row), and right side of the cloth, working 3 sts in each corner.
