Make the Candle
Here is how the candle was made using a recycled multi-colored glass candle holder.
Find all of your black and white used candles that you have in your possession.
Next scoop wax out of container, pull the wick out and cut or break wax into smaller chunks into microwaveable glass container. Keep colors black separate from the white.
I happened to have a small cinnamon stick white candle handy, so I lit it as this would be the wax used for the top of the candle with flakes of black to match the candle holder.
Take candle wick and dab in candle that is burning or use a dab from melted candle wax and place in middle of candle holder. Hold wick for 30 seconds verticals and place two stirrer sticks, one on each side of wick.
Place glass container with black chunks of wax with 6 to 8 drops of orange essential oils in microwave for 5 minutes. When timer goes off, use wooden stir stick and stir. Then, place back into microwave for 4 minutes. When timer goes off, use wooden stick and stir. Place back into microwave for 3 minutes. When timer goes off, use wooden stick and stir. If candle stirs smoothly, then go ahead and pour into candle holder. If not, place back into microwave for 2 minutes. When timer goes off, stir with a wooden stir stick and if there are no chunks, then pour in candle holder. If not repeat the above process in 30 second increments until wax is smooth.
If candle holder if wax is hot to the touch, use pot holders to remove from microwave. If any wax spills, use paper towels to wipe up. I always keep handy as wax will find places to go that were not intended. It happens and easier to remove once wax has dried.
Remove wooden stirrer sticks when pouring wax. Pour black wax up to one inch from the top of candle holder. Let wax set up for 30 minutes. Pour white wax on top of black wax. Take scissors and cut wick even with top of candle holder. Let candle set up for 30 minutes. Gently place in larger candle holder.
Make the Candy Tray
To make a candy tray with a twist of trick or treat is very easy. Find a Halloween tray or fall colored tray.
Buy a bag of candy or if you have some candy that is wrapped or unwrapped by placing on a tray. If you have wording on tray, try to let this show if it is meaningful to the dish like Trick or Treat. I lined the wrapped candy bars Fast Break around the edge and added mini pumpkins as a trick. Just kidding, but just for fun. Use any pattern you wish based upon candy selected.
If using unwrapped candy, find a small glass dish and place candy in bowl that shows it off. One of my favorite this time of the year is candy corn.
To add a detail related to protecting your treats from the goblins, take a cotton ball and gently pull it apart in the from right to left and up to down kind of like a ‘+’ sign. This will start to visibly look like a mini spider web.
Make the Floral Arrangement
Take each of strand of your eucalyptus or other greenery and place in vase. I always start in the middle and usually with the largest piece first and then add the remainder around the main live. Then, I follow this with the mini pumpkins on a stick as these are heavier pieces and can be equal height of the largest piece or slightly shorter. To soften the look, I add the orange carnations last as these can be placed to fill in color and look light as a feather with a pop of softness to floral arrangement.
Pulling It All Together
You are ready to display your Truck or Treat display.
Place the candy tray in the center of your display as it is gets your attention.
Add the floral arrangement to the right or left of the display. I chose left as it looked better in my entry room.
Place one tiger pumpkin in each side of the tray.
Light the candle and place multi-colored candle to the right of the candle tray towards the corner.
Happy Halloween!
