Tribal Mask Using Air Drying Clay

Welcome to my Tribal Mask making.....

I love to do art...so as I try to do something new instructed by my prof and planned to share my experience and the way of doing it ...Never worry about trying something new in life cause this is my first attempt of doing this find of art. :).

So i tried a mask with an inspiration of Egyptian Mummies find of a face..Hope people who are reading right now would like it.

1. Imaginary image of what your gonna do
2. Air Drying Clay
3. Needle Tool
4. Roller
5. Sharper
6. Paper(like newspaper)
7. Supporting pad
8. Masking tape
9. Paint
10. Brushes
11. Sponges

1. First set up a supporting board
2. Now crush the newspaper and make a face void so your mask can be laid on it
3. Using masking tape,tape the newspaper on to the board
4. Now take clay and using roller ,roll it
5. Place the flat piece of clay onto the crushed newspaper and cut off the extra clay part

1. Now take small part of clay and start rolling it with your hands,this is to make other shapes of your own desire like eye ,nose,etc
2. Actually while doing this clay mask it will being drying fast ,so we need to cover it with moist cloth all time
3. So after making other parts of the face ,stick it to the face by pressing and blending the edges with the face
4. Now itself we need to make any dents and design with our needle tool as required cause after it dries ,we cant make these changes
5. After finishing the work ,cover it with moist cloth ,so while its drying it won't be cracked anywhere( don't remove the mask from the supported base now)

1. Now after a day ,remove the mask from mould
2. So for painting,initialise by white painting the whole mask
3. Now start painting your desire colour on the mask
4. Give 2 to 3 coating of paint cause as it dries you can see places where its not coloured and allow it to dry
5. Now finally your tribal mask is ready.....
