Tree Ornaments With Threads and Wire

Hello, everyone. I made this project because in a couple of months we are already in christmas, and I was thinking about ideas and ornaments to decorate the tree but with low budget.

Supplies

  • Wool yarn
  • Shiny crochet thread
  • Wire
  • Hammer
  • Nails
  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Tweezers
  • Yarn needle
  • Wooden board
  • Ribbons or thick thread for binding
  • Scissors

Choose the Shape to Be Made

Draw on paper or directly on the board, the figure you want to make.

Nailing the Shape

At each highlight point of the figure (which makes you identify it), put the nails and add an extra one on the upper axis of the figure at approximately 7 mm distance.

Making a Loop

Make a simple ring through which the ornament will hang.

Assemble Figure

  • Place the ring made in the previous step on the top nail.
  • Then, form the figure by passing through each nail using them as a guide.
  • Use tweezers to rearrange the figure and give it a firmer shape.
  • Remove from the nails and use the tweezers to cut the wire, leave an extra 1.5 cm and wrap around the upper end to close the metal ornament.

Cover the Figure

With the yarn or thread of your choice, tie a knot at the end with the yarn or thread you are using; pass the other end through the yarn needle and go around the wire shape. It does not have to be perfectly covered.

Tip: Cut a considerable amount of thread or yarn and wrap it around a piece of cardboard or something small that can be manipulated to be able to pass it through the metal figures.

Interlacing With Thread

Pass the thread from one side to the other, intertwining in order to "fill" the figure, and once the interlacing is finished, make a knot again as at the beginning.

Tip: You can use different combinations of yarns.

Final Touches
