Travel Pick-up Sticks
Another nostalgic mini-sized game for when the Exchange server goes down.
I had this whole thing written using an Altoids tin and shish kabob skewers... But then I found colored toothpicks in the store! That nullified most of the old article, so here's the new version with colored toothpicks!

The Rules
Go out and find some rules, or make up your own. In general, you need between 30-50 colored sticks. The colors may represent various point values or each may be worth one point. To play, drop the sticks in a pile and take turns picking them up without any other sticks moving. The person with the most points/sticks at the end wins.
Putting It All Together
This set will contain 41 sticks. I bought some colored toothpicks at the store. It's a lot easier than cutting up bamboo skewers! 250 for $0.50!
I'll have 10 of each: red, blue, green and yellow. Plus one that I'll color black.
Points as follows:
Black -25 points
Red -10 points
Blue -5 points
Green -2 points
Yellow 1-points
Stick your sticks in a prescription bottle from the drug store or an Altoids tin along with some printed rules, if you expect to play with people who don't know how (or tend to cheat).

Play!
Now that you're finished, toss your Altoids Pick-Up Sticks game into your backpack and play it when you've got a friend and some free time!
