Trash to Treasure: Turn Large Tree Stumps Into Charming Cozy Stools in 3 Easy Steps
From Trash to Treasure:
Turn large tree stumps into charming cozy stools. This is a great way to add extra seating around the holidays or for outdoor dining. These charming decorative tree stumps can add character just about anywhere! In this case I used this idea for my front porch. This is where my family and friends seem to gather after a delicious dinner together with our hot drinks during the chilly months, or refreshing cocktails during those lazy summer nights. This is such an easy and fast project, even your little ones can join in and help. And now more friends and family can have a comfy place to sit while gathered on the porch.

Step 1 for Making a Charming Cozy Log Stool
Cut the hemp fabric and cotton sweaters to size by holding a piece of fabric on top of stump and running a pair of sharp scissors along the edge to cut out the exact shape. Staple the layers of cotton sweaters or cotton batting onto the top of the log. (Make sure you use enough layers to give a nice cushion.)
Step 2 for Making a Charming Cozy Log Stool
Place the hemp fabric on top and with a hammer tack upholstery tacks all the way around while pulling the fabric tight for a nice fit. Start with hammering down tack opposite each other.
For a nicer cleaner look, tuck under the fabric 1/4" around the outer edge and then hammer the tacks down.

Step 3 for Making a Charming Cozy Log Stool
Paint the log a bright color or leave it unpainted to let the natural bark show as I did.
Be careful if you have little ones around, they should not climb on the log, as they may injure themselves.
ENJOY!
