This Instructable is my Interpretation of how I cook a Traditional Full English Breakfast, the English breakfast can have many components, but for the main part, its Bacon, Sausage, Eggs, Beans, and tomato, tomatoes ideally should be plum tomatoes, but chopped tomatoes or fried tomatoes are equally as good, Hash browns can be used and Black pudding can bring an extra element to the plate, toast on the side is very important as well.

With no further ado lets head into the Kitchen:

First job is to wash hands, keep a tea towel to hand as well for wiping hands during the process, if it's good enough for top chefs then its good enough for me:))

I keep all the components separate when preparing, its best not to keep different meat products on the same chopping board or plate.

In my honest opinion preparation is a key factor in preparing this breakfast, all the components take different times to cook and this is very important when it comes to serving up the breakfast so each component is hot on the plate, a lot of Restaurants and cafes have pre-heated food, which on occasion is ok in a breadcake or bun but ideally the breakfast should be freshly cooked, it tastes so much better.

Cooking order of play.

Sausages are the first component to be cooked as they take a little longer and bear in mind when serving straight from the oven they are furnace hot and can retain heat for quite some time, I cook the sausages first then after say 10 minutes add the bacon to the grill pan, our oven is a Fan oven and 180 degrees is a nice heat for even browning of the sausages, once the sausages are cooked then remove from the oven, place on a tray and cover with foil to gently cool.

Bacon for me is best grilled in the oven, if its fried then place the rashers on Kitchen roll prior to serving to soak up the excess fat.

My wife and myself like crispy well done bacon, but this can be cooked to suit Individual tastes, it can be grilled and will retain heat if placed in foil and leave in bottom of a cooling down Oven.

Black Pudding can be be pan fried or grilled, to fry seal both sides and gently fry until cooked, again place on kitchen towel prior to serving, to grill is 10-12 minutes, The Black pudding is very savoury and is a welcome addition to the plate, don't look up how they make black pudding, it will put you off forever! be warned.

If you are using plum tomatoes then these are cooked in a saucepan and placed on a low heat to simmer cook, stir every now and then, add a little salt and pepper to taste.

If using normal tomatoes, these can be halved, add a splash of olive oil on the cut side and a little salt and pepper and grill them in the oven, skin can be removed prior to cooking if desired, these are the preferred choice for this particular dish, and go into the oven say 10 mins after the Sausages.

Beans are tinned and can be cooked in a Saucepan or Microwave, The saucepan method is best for a thicker sauce, Microwave for 2minutes if you feel the need for speed, or you forgot about cooking them, I've done that on occasion, keep on a low heat until ready to serve

Toast is easy, place in the toaster and toast, leave to stand upright for a minute or so prior to spreading the butter or Margarine, if you do this part too early after taking from the toaster it makes the toast soggy which is not good, it needs to have that crunch to it, and great for dunking too.

The eggs are the last component to be cooked, place a frying pan on heat and add oil or butter, crack the eggs into a pan without breaking them, spoon the oil over them for a even cook, with eggs its a visual cooking thing as ideally the yoke needs to be runny, over cooking leaves a hard yoke.

I'm not going into too much detail on how to make and cook Hash Browns, but grated potato, then squeeze out the excess liquid using a towel add finely chopped onion an egg, add salt and pepper, and then have frying pan ready with a good amount of oil and form the mixture into patties and fry until golden brown then flip and same again until golden brown, transfer to Kitchen roll before serving, I'm not cooking Hash Browns on this occasion.

Serving Up the Breakfast.

Ideally the plates will have been in the oven as its been cooling down for some residual heat before serving, add the sausages to the plate, then Bacon and black pudding, then the beans and tomatoes can be served straight from the saucepans, the eggs which were cooked last are served up, add salt and pepper to taste, the toast is served on a side plate, any sauces can be placed on the table, some Tea compliments this breakfast.

All in all, not a difficult meal to cook, but with Multiple components, cooking times are essential, the key is getting everything cooked and ready to serve up at the last minute hot.

Anyway, there you have it, The Traditional Full English Breakfast on a plate.

All that's left to do is ENJOY!
