Build the Outside Structure

Start by taking a 9 inch by 9 inch square of cardboard.

Fold it into thirds

Have it stand up so that it is a tall rectangular box with three sides

Wrap tape on the bottom to keep it from stretching open

Take a small square of cardboard and press it onto the sticky-side-up tape on the bottom

Make the Axle

Take two toothpicks

Stick one through one side of the cardboard and one through the opposite side

Tape the toothpicks together in the center, making sure the tape is tightly wrapped around both of them

Make sure that one toothpick sticks out one side of the cardboard farther so that it can be used to turn the axle

Next, take a small strip of cardboard and tear it in half so that it becomes thinner.

Take this and wrap it around the taped toothpicks in the center.

Now, take the string and tape the end of it to the cardboard piece in the center on the toothpicks.

Once you have done that, grab the tooth pick that sticks out the side of the structure, and start turning it.

This should cause the string to wind up on the center.

Then, take a small piece of carboard and wrap it around the toothpick sticking out and tape it, forming a handle.

Make the Bucket

Take a piece of cardboard

Flex it and bend it so that it loses its stiff form

Bend it so it forms a circle, and tape it so it stays that way

Next, take a small circle of cardboard and tape it to the bottom of the circle. You should now have a bucket without a handle.

Take two small rolls of tape and put them inside the bucket on opposite sides.

Press the U shape handle inside the bucket, against the tape.

Finally, take the string hanging off the axle and tie it to your bucket handle. You should now be able to lower and raise your bucket
