Toy Solar Car
This article is about a toy solar car kit that you can order on Amazon or eBay website. I will explain how to assemble this kit. The first video shows you how to make the kit (if you do not want to read this article). The second video shows just the car moving in the sun.
Supplies
Everything that you need is provided in the kit. However, if the wire from the solar cell breaks you might need a soldering iron to reattach it.
Attach the Rod to Orange Wheel
You need to insert one of the rods into the small orange wheel.
Attach Motor to the White Wheel
You need to insert the motor rod into the small white wheel.
Attach Wheels to Car Frame
Attach the four wheels to the car frame.
Attach the Motor to Fixture
Insert the motor into the white fixture.
Attach the Motor to Car Frame
Use double-sided tape to attach the motor to the car frame. Make sure that the white motor wheel is aligned with the small orange wheel because, in the last step, you will have to attach the rubber band.
Attach Solar Cell Fixture to Car Frame
Use double-sided tape to attach the solar cell fixture to the car frame.
Attach Tape to Solar Cell
Attach double-sided tape to the solar cell. You can see that I placed the wires behind the tape so that they are not loose. Loose wires might break.
Attach Solar Cell to Car Frame
Attach the solar cell to the car frame.
Attach Wire Connector to Car Frame
Use double-sided tape to attach the wire connector to car frame.
Connect the Motor Wires to Solar Cell Wires
Press on the buttons in to connector and insert the wires so that they touch the metal contacts.
Connect Motor to Wheels With Rubber Band
Attach the rubber band.
Testing
This kit might not work in North Europe or North America. I am based in Melbourne, Australia, and tested this kit in the summer. It might not work in winter weather.
