Tooth Fairy Earrings

These were my two last baby teeth that I lost. I wanted to make something special for the Tooth Fairy and I brainstormed and came up with tooth earrings. My mom actually liked them so much that she took them for herself, left a note for the tooth fairy and left me some money. They did turn out pretty cute, and they are unique and one of a kind because you use your or your kid's teeth! If you don't have teeth lying around, you can substitute shell beads, which are shown in some of the close up photos, since I didn't want to take my mom's earrings apart.

Materials Needed:

- 2 earring hooks or posts

- 2 head pins (wire rods)

- beading pliers

- wire cutters or scissors

- 2 pieces of thin wire (like 26 gauge) about 3 inches long each

- colorful beads of your choice - I used 3 per earring: 1 purple, 1 grey and 1 white bead

- 2 baby teeth or shells ( both are shown in different pics)

Wrap the Tooth

Start by taking a piece of the wire and hold the tooth in hand, wrap it tightly in any desired way you wish. Be confident, but if you don't like the way it looks, you can unwrap and start again or cut it and start over. Leave about a centimeter or a little more of wire to wrap around the head pin.

Attach Tooth and Beads

Use the remainder of the wire from tooth ( about 1-2 centimeters ) to wrap around the bottom of head pin. Next put beads on the head pin in the desired order.

Attach Earring Post

Take pliers and bend the top of the head pin almost into a closed loop but enough room to slide the hook or post onto it, then close it all the way. One earring is finished!

For a matching set, follow all the steps again and you'll have a special memory of your childhood or your child's.

** I do not recommend knocking your or your siblings teeth out on purpose to make these! There will be trouble. It's all fun and games till someone gets hurt... as my parents always remind me. lol **
