Toilet Paper Roll Turkey
Hi! My name is Brandi. I can help teachers better artistic abilities with their children. I can help teach your students how to be great artists. I am going to demonstrate an easy and fun craft to make with young children. When students show their parents their new Thanksgiving craft of everything, they are thankful for, the parents are going to be very proud of the kid’s artistic creation. Young children aren’t the only ones that can make fun crafts. Making a toilet paper roll turkey is a simple and fun way to improve kids’ artistic ability, along with getting them involved with the holiday season approaching. Since the toilet paper roll turkey is easy, it is a great way to get children involved with more crafts as they get older. These instructions will include the materials that will be needed, the planning process, cutting and gluing, critical thinking of what they are thankful for, and the final stage of their toilet paper roll turkey all put together.

Educate Yourself
Before we get started if you don’t know the safety and precautions needed with scissors and glue around children, you will need to educate yourself by watching videos or talking through safety tips with other educators.
Draw Turkey Feathers
Before starting to cut the construction paper, it’s best to have the turkey feather drawn out for the kids to easily follow the lines. That will help with all the turkey feathers being the same size, so they look even when you have the finished product. Each turkey feather can be any color depending on what color the child picks.
Cut Out Turkey Feathers
Now that we have our construction paper colors picked out and drawn, we can start cutting the feathers out. Hold the construction paper firmly with on hand to avoid ripping the feathers and cut out the feathers with the other hand. If the feather is not cut out perfectly, that’s okay, that is what will give the turkey character. Once, you are done cutting out the turkey feathers ask the children “What are you grateful for this holiday season?”. Some common ones the children may put is family, friends, pets, food, home, God etc. Once the children are done writing what they are thankful for on the turkey feathers, you can set them aside for now.
Trace and Cut Turkey Nose and Feet
Next, grab yellow construction paper and trace a little triangle nose for the turkey. Following the lines cut out the triangular nose and set it aside. Next, trace two feet on yellow paper as well, and then cut the feet out by following the lines. After the nose and feet cut out, set them aside.
Assemble and Glue Turkey
Then, grab the empty toilet paper roll and glue on the two google eyes to the toilet paper roll, centering them on the front top of the empty roll. After the eyes are glued, grab the feathers and glue them on to the back of the empty toilet paper roll, make sure you’re able to see what the students are thankful for. Once, the eyes and feathers glued on you can now start gluing the nose and the two feet centering them on the front of the turkey.
Enjoy Your Thankful Turkey!!
After you are all done with your toilet paper roll turkey, you have a simple and fun craft for young children to give to their parents. Creating a toilet paper roll turkey is a good beginner project and it improves young children’s artistic ability. This little turkey is a good reminder that there is always something to be thankful for. Any color of construction paper is fine, depending on what the child chooses.
