Tofu Press Instructions

When purchasing Tofu for cooking it is important to chose the style of tofu you require. When it comes to silken tofu, this device is not necessary because you are most likely looking for a soft texture. When you have a recipe that requires a firm or super firm style of tofu, it is necessary that you get as much liquid as possible out. You can do this in many ways, but by far the easiest is to purchase a tofu press and use it as follows. (Note: the pictures corresponding to the step are below the text in PDF download).

Supplies

The three required materials are as follows:

  1. Block of Tofu
  2. Tofu Press
  3. Thin Cloth or paper towel

  • Cover tofu block with cloth or paper towel

  • Place covered block of tofu into tofu press.
  • Tighten tofu press with both wing nuts evenly until well pressed. (Note: view wing nut location in photo details).
  • Continue to tighten wing nuts every 10-15 min until desired moisture level is reached.
  • If paper towel or cloth is completely saturated and desired moisture level is not reached replace paper towel or cloth with a dry duplicate.

  • Remove covered tofu block from the press by loosening the wing nuts and carefully taking out
  • Then remove the paper towel or cloth from the block of tofu and prepare as desired.
