Toenail Art for Independence Day. Beginner Nail Art

Hello everyone!
Welcome to my sixth instructable.
Nail art is super fun and creative, especially if it is seasonal!
I love having pretty nails, but going to the salon is expensive, especially if you want nail art.
With a little practice, you can make fun and easy nail art, right in your own home!
Before we start, check out this awesome time lapse I made of me painting my toenails (see above).
I am only twelve years old, so if you have any suggestions on how to improve my instructables, please let me know! Now, enough talking, on with the instructable!

You do not have to use the colors that I used. Do whatever you like!

The colors that I used are (in order of appearance above) :

- L.A. Colors Color Craze: Electra. Found at local drugstore, dollar store, or Amazon.

- Fresh Paint: Burning Flame. Found at Five Below.

- Funky Fingers: It's a Trap. Found at Five Below.

- L.A. Colors Color Craze: Wired. Found at local drugstore, dollar store, or Amazon.

- Sally Hansen Hard As Nails: Hard to Get. Found at local drugstore or Amazon.

- Funky Fingers: Red Wedding. Found at Five Below.

- Funky Fingers: Bottle Rockets. Found at Five Below.

- China Glaze Crackle: Lightning Bolt. Found on Amazon.

- Color Club: Disco Dress (not shown). Found on Amazon.

- a top coat or base coat

You will also need:

- a tooth pick or dotting tool

- nail polish remover

- a Q-tip

- something to protect your workspace

Applying a base coat will make your nail art last longer.

It will also prevent the nail polish from staining your nail.

Paint it on each toe and let it dry fully.

There are two methods to do this.

Method number one is to let the polish drip onto a piece of paper, then dip your toothpick into the drop of polish, and paint it on.

Method number two is to stick your tooth pick into the brush to get paint on it. Paint paint it on.

Do the red stripes first, then do the white stripes.

Wipe your toothpick before you do the white, or use a new toothpick.

Be very careful when you do this.

Try not to get it on the stripes, but if it does, just paint over it with a tooth pick.

Let it dry.

Paint it like you would normally paint your toe. Let it dry fully.

Once dry, if you like, apply glitter polish.

Decide if you are going to paint all your little toes one color, alternate colors, do a color pattern, or something different on each nail..

For my middle toe, I mixed colors.

First, I made a few dots of one color, then a few dots of the other color.

Next, I smeared them around with both brushes.

This a little bit tricky to do, but it's okay if you mess up! Just try your best! Let it dry fully.

If you like, apply glitter polish once the first color coat is dry.

You can paint the base coat one color, or you can paint it half and half (two colors)!

What I did is I painted it half and half, let it dry, then I applied the Crackle nail polish.

I used purple as the base color.

I used a toothpick to make a firework design by making an X, then paint another line through the middle of the X...similar to an asterisk symbol.

Get creative, and maybe even put a few dots next to the fireworks.

Use your toothpick and dip it in the white paint. Make dots with it. Let it dry fully.

The top coat will make your nail art last longer and make it glossy.

Do this on every nail. Let it dry fully.
