Tips to Be an Amazing Minecraft Player- the Nether

So, when we're talking about one of the most dangerous places in Minecraft, we also need to be prepared. Along with the End, the Nether also has one of the monster bosses that you defeat to consider the game to be finished, the wither skeleton. Of course, this isn't the only reason to go into the Nether, but it all leads to being prepared. In this instructable, you'll see some small but useful tips to survive in the Nether.

The Nether Portal

To visit the Nether, you need to make a Nether Portal. It can be made from obsidian blocks, in a rectangular frame of a minimum of 4*5 and a maximum of 23*23. Then you use flint and steel to light it up with the purple, hazy light you see in the middle. After that, just step into it, and you'll be teleported into...The Nether.

Things to Bring

You'll need as many cobblestones or any fireproof blocks as you can get {preferably cobblestone, because it is easily available in the Overworld}, as they're fireproof. You can also block a ghast's fireballs by building a two-block pillar with cobblestone to block it. You'll need at least 1-2 stacks. Get rid of anything you can't use in the Nether because you don't really want your inventory filled with useless things. You can also enchant your weapons and armor for more protection. You could also bring fire resistance potions along with you because if you fall into lava or get hit by a fireball, you'll die within a few seconds. Arrows too, because if you want to hit anything from a distance due to any kind of problem, then this will be the best option.

Protecting Your Portal

Your Nether Portal is very important in the Nether, for even quick escapes. For instance, you're being chased by a crowd of piglins and you know that your nether portal is only seconds away from you, but can't see it because a ghast's fireball destroyed it. You would most definitely die. So...protection {got a little carried away ;)}. Build a cobblestone wall around your Nether Portal to protect it from damage. That's what I meant to say. Or you can carry flint and steel along with you.

Piglins

Piglins look quite harmless, but in reality, they're very hostile. If you attack even one of them with only one blow, a whole crowd of piglins will be chasing you. But this only happens when you hit them, and this tip is going to be on how to avoid that. Wear at least ONE piece of golden armor. This will earn you respect from the piglins, which in turn leads them to not attack you.

Transport by Striders

This tip is exactly what the title suggests. I present to you, the best method of transport in the Nether! Transport by a Strider. A wild Strider can be tamed by placing a saddle on it. Why do we need to tame a Strider, you ask? The Nether is literally half lava. There is lava here, there, and everywhere. Unless you have many fire-resistance potions, you can't travel in such a vast length of lava. And even if you had many, you wouldn't want to waste it. So, a tamed strider can walk through lava without taking any damage. Very useful, right?

Marking Your Way

You tend to get lost in the nether easily. It's very normal, but it can be quite frustrating and for some people, panicky {like me}. The best way to avoid that is to mark your way with indestructible blocks {i.e: cobblestone, obsidian}. If you have enough cobblestone, make a trail you can follow back. And preferably, collect it when you're going back.

Nether Fortresses

This is more like a warning than a tip. You'll be very lucky if you find a nether fortress but think before running inside in joy. There are a lot of hostile mobs inside and if you go there without the needed things and a game plan, you're very likely to be doomed. So, I warn you again, DO NOT enter a nether fortress without preparation.

Important Items

And last but not the least, important items in the nether. Some may find it useless, but I'm just going to list down what I think is important.

  • Soul Sand
  • Wither Skull
  • Ghast tears
  • Magma Cream
  • Glowstone
  • Nether Wart
  • Blaze Rods
  • Ancient Debris
