Tiny Donuts and Donut Holes!!!
Hello! My family loves eating donuts, but we don’t buy them that often. I love this recipe for donuts because you only need 3 ingredients and some oil. Here I show you two ways of making the donuts so you can make tiny donuts or donut holes. If you are just planning on making a whole bunch of donut holes I suggest you double or triple the recipe, depending on how many donut holes you want. I hope you enjoy making and eating these delicious donuts!!
Supplies
Tools
- Mixing spoon
- measuring cups, 1/4 cup,1/8 cup, and 1/8 tsp (I did not have this so I filled a 1/4 tsp about halfway)
- small bowl
- plate
- chopstick
- Small pan or pot
- tongs or serving spoon
Ingredients
- 1/8 cup Yogurt (plain Greek or vanilla)
- 1/4 cup Flour
- 1/8 tsp baking soda
- oil (I used vegetable oil)
- powdered sugar
- Cinnamon (if making donut holes)
- sugar (if making donut holes)
Making the Dough
Mix together the flour, baking soda, and yogurt until it is one big clump of dough.
Shaping the Dough
Make sure the dough is not too sticky because you will be using your hands for this part. If it is too sticky you can always add more flour. First take a small amount of dough and roll it into a thin strip. Then wrap the strip of dough around the chopstick at the wider end.
Baking the Dough
You will not need a lot of oil to bake the donuts, so I put less than an inch of oil in my pot. Boil your oil at a low temperature because you don’t want the donuts to cook too quickly and get burnt. Use the big spoon or tongs to place the dough in the oil. The oil should bubble around the dough and rise to the top if it is at the right temperature. It will only take a few seconds to cook so watch it carefully. You may need to flip it. Take the dough out of the oil when it turns a light golden brown. Put the donut in the powered sugar and use a spoon to coat the donut. When it is coated move the donut to the plate and enjoy! Repeat with the rest of the dough. If the hole closed while you were cooking it than you can poke where the hole used to be with a chopstick.
Extra Batter
If you have extra batter or are not patient enough to make a lot of tiny donuts you can also roll the batter into small balls of dough and cook those to get donut holes! Make sure not to make the donut holes too big or the inside won’t get cooked. For the donut holes I like to coat them in sugar with cinnamon.
