Tiny Arcade - Galaga

Get your Tiny Arcade from Super Impulse or Amazon. For this instruction I used the Galaga version but any version will do: https://www.amazon.com/Tiny-Arcade-Galaga-Miniature-Multicolor/dp/B07B5WBB3N or any of the ecellent https://superimpulse.com/tiny-arcade/ machines.

This project also makes use of 3D printed parts. I used an Ender 3 v2, but any 3D printer will do. You can find all the files in this instructable but also (of course) on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4712327

This step is simple. Just open up the Tiny Arcade and remove all electronics. We don't need the battery compartment, su just cut the two cables. You should be left with:

1. the main circuitboard
2. the screen (attached with a ribboncable to the main circuitboard). KEEP the 2 small screws, we will need them later when assembling.
3. the small control circuit board (attached with a ribboncable to the main circuitboard)
4. the speaker (attached with 2 wires to the main circuitboard)
5. a small led circuitboard (attached with 2 wire ribboncable to the main circuitboard
6. remove the metal plates from the battery compartment. We will need them later when assembling.

Print all the parts for the case:

1. The batteryholder (for 3 AAA batteries)
2. The cover for the batteryholder (or use 2a that does not have any text on it)
3. The righthand side of the cabinet (is used as the mounting point for the other components).
4. The coindoor
5. The screenbezel and control panel (that hold the small screen, the joystick and the buttons)
6. The brackets that clamp the screen to the controlpanel (so print this part twice)
7. The bottom plate (jus snaps into place) or use 7a which has holes for the speaker)
8. The left side of the arcade cabinet.
9. as a bonus a small and a slightly larger joystick (although I just re-used the Tiny arcade joystick and buttons)

a. Paint the Coindoor (photo 1)

b. Paint the joystick and the buttons (the Original galaga had a Red joystick ball and a red firebutton. The start button was yellow) shown in photo 2

c. Add de joystick and the buttons

d. The screen just slots into place

e. Click the 2 brackets to hold the screen down (you might want to add some glue f you don't have a tight fit.

f. Screw the control circuitboard down (photo 4)

The final picture shows how ALL the other different components come together.

g. Take the 'Cabinet right' part and slide the screen and control assembly into the slot.

h. Glue the coindoor in.

i. Glue the speaker to the botton cover (with the holes)

j. Glue the batterybox into the back of the cabinet.

k. Shove all the electronics in the space

l. run 2 small wires through the back to the top Marquee are place the led circuitboard

m. CHECK to see if all the electronics still work!!

n. Glue the left side of the cabinet to the right assembly.

o. Snap the bottomplate into place.

And finally print the artwork. EIther print them on vinyl. Or print on normal paper and laminate and glue it on.

You now have a fully functioning, historical accurate tiny Galaga full upright arcade machine.

To make any of the other Tiny Arcades into the Arcade of YOUR dreams, just change/create your own historical accurate artwork and let me know how you got on.
