Tin Can Piggy Bank

Untitled design.png

Piggy banks are a personalized money-saving tool for children to help teach them the concept of saving. We bought a few Cute Piggy banks for my daughter. But sadly, they kept breaking due to one or the other reason and when I tried to find a piggy bank that was not made of ceramic, I couldn’t find it!

So, I decided to make our own piggy bank using a Tin can! In this Instructable, I will share with you how I made this Tin Can Piggybank.

Supplies

  • Tin Can
  • Pink Sponge
  • 2 Googly Eyes
  • Pink Metallic paint
  • Pink Paper
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • A small piece of cardboard

Paint the Can

First, Paint the outer surface of the Tin with Pink acrylic Paint or Metallic paint.

Measure the size of the opening and make a circular sheet of cardboard to close the Can. Make an opening at the centre of the circle big enough to insert the biggest coin.

Apply Hot glue gun on the Edge of the Cardboard circle and Paste it over the Opening of the Can. Now there are no sharp edges and very safe for kids to use.

Add Details to the Can

Draw Nose and Ears on Pink Cardstock paper and Cut them out. You also need 4 tiny cubes made from Sponge. Gather two googly eyes. Attach the Eyes, Nose and ears with a glue gun. Finally, attach the legs (Sponge blocks) on the sides of the Can.
