Tie Time Keeper

It's important to be able to tell the time but not everyone likes to wear a watch and taking our your smartphone just to check the time seems a bit unnecessary. I like to keep my hands free of rings, bracelets, and watches when operating in a professional capacity so but time management is important. Now here's a way to be able to tell the time without having to check your wrist or smartphone for the professionals.

• Tie

• 2 Wires (shorturl.at/oJMUW)
• Scissors
• Soldering Iron and Wire (shorturl.at/CJMT9)

We Need to Noin our switch and watch component together. The brighter the watch you can use for this project, the better. Note: I have removed the core of this watch from the straps a few years ago. You will need to do the same if you are repurposing a watch for this project.

• Strip each site of your wire on both ends.
• Solder the positive and negative to the two terminals on your switch (Any basic switch will work)
• Solder the other end of your wires to the positive and negative to your watch alert.wake button connection. (You can run multiple switches if your watch has multi-functions you would like to access)

Time to test that your connection is working and secure it in place.

• Test your connection to ensure the switch powers on the watch
• Apply some hot glue to the soldered connections to ensure they don't separate.
• Test after the glue dries to ensure the switch still works.

Now to secure the adhesive and test your placement.

• Cut two strips of double-sided tape.
• Apply it to the back of the watch.
• Lay the watch and switch assembly along the tie to visualize your position and placement.

Now we will be implanting our watch assembly into our tie.

• Turn your tie over and pull back the first layer.
• Lift up the inner layer, exposing the backside of the front layer.
• Remove the backing off the double-sided tape.
• Stick the watch on the inner layer of the tie, with the watch face facing the inner part of the tie. (Note: The orientation at this point will determine if your watch is right-side up or upside down, depends on how you would prefer to read the time.)
• Make a small insition in the inner layer, close to where the wires come off the catch to push the button through.
• Thread your switch and excess wire through the insition made in the inner lining.
• Place the inner layer back in place at the bottom of the tie and thread the switch and remaining wire up along the back of the inner layer.

Now we need to secure the switch in place. This is up to you to decide the location of the switch however I would suggest below or at the loop at the back of the tie. This allows you to be able to remove and retie without the switch being in the way.

• Make a small insition right below the loop at the back of the tie and thread your switch through it.
• Cut a small piece of double-sided tape and stick it to the back of the switch.
• Remove the backing from the double-sided tape and stick the switch in place below the loop.

Now you will always know what time without a watch on your wrist, with a simple press and a glance down at your tie or a reflection in the mirror. The best part is, no one will know you have the time so it's unlikely you'll be asked 'What time is it please?" and feel obligated to stop and provide the time when in a hurry, or show off your hided watch the next time someone asks for the time.
