Tic Tac Toe

To build our woodworking skills for Year 8 STEAM, we're going to make this fun little Tic Tac Toe board using a scrap of pine wood.

You can collect the game pieces from the teacher when you're done and challenge your friends to a game.

- Scrap of pine 95x95x18mm

- Game pieces (Two colours, 5 per player) - Hand saw (Tenon) - Electric drill - Drill bit with same diameter as the post of the game pieces. - Ruler - Pencil - Sandpaper

The TicTacToe game is a 3x3 grid. There is a 20mm strip on either side for each player's pieces. I'm using a piece of scrap pine wood that is 95mm wide and 18mm thick.

To hold the wood in place while I cut it, I used the bench hook and/or the vice.

Each square needs a hole in the centre for the the piece to be placed into.

I drilled 19 holes in total.

I used the offcuts to make a base for the board. They're glued on with PVA wood glue. After applying the glue to the surface, I used the heavy container of bolts to clamp the base to the board.

It's pretty rough, but it's a working Tic Tac Toe board that you can use with a friend. I could use sandpaper to neaten up the edges and make it look nicer.
