A spooky three tier cake perfect for any Halloween party. Features fondant and chocolate decorations with an extravagant caulron cake topper.
Supplies
Ingredients for flavor cake of your choice (we did vanilla), ingredients for buttercream icing of your choice (we also did vanilla), 8" 6" and 4" cake pans, orange black and white fondant, gumballs, melting white chocolate, green food coloring, piping bags and tips, plastic spiders, plastic cauldron, candy corn
Step 1: Bake the Cakes of Your Choice
Make 6 cakes of your choosing. Two 8" round, two 6" round, and two 4" round cakes. Let cool until no longer warm to the touch.
Step 2: Frost Your Cakes
Make the buttercream frosting of your choice. Frost cake layers of the same size together until you have three, two layer cakes.
Step 3: Put on Fondant
Roll out appropriate sized fondant for your cake size. Drape over cake and smooth. Cut of excess with a fondant cutter. Do for all three cakes. The 8" layer is orange, 6" is black, and 3" is white.
Step 4: Pipe the Spider Web
Use a piping bag and thin tip to pipe icing in a spider web onto the orange tier. Place plastic spider on web.
Step 5: Assemble
Place cakes in size order with a dollup of frosting in between layers to make sure they stay. You can add a dowel for extra support if it needs it.
Step 6: Put on Candy Corn and Other Fondant Decoration
Cut out stars and a tombstone from the fondant, apply to middle tier with frosting. Put rings of candy corn along the bottom of the top two tiers, use frosting as glue.
Step 7: Create the Topper
Load gumballs into cauldron. Melt white chocloate melting chocolate and dye green. Drip chocolate over the cauldron and top of the cake making sure it drips down the sides of the top tier.
