Selfie-Reflexivity Stick
Those who prefer to stay behind the camera shouldn't have to miss out on all the fun of a selfie stick. So, before making a visit to Niagara Falls, I made a little modification to an ordinary bluetooth selfie stick, which allowed me to take pictures that captured a perfect day from someone else's perspective.
Whether it's taking pictures of someone that you'd like to have with you, or just a way to document your experiences from another perspective. A selfie-reflexivity stick allows you to enjoy taking selfies as if you're someone else.
Materials
- Bluetooth Selfie Stick
- Smart Phone
- Metal Pigtail Sign Stake
- 4 1/8" Maleable Wire Rope Clips
- Scissors
- A Picture
Surplus selfie sticks seem to be on sale pretty much everywhere. I got mine surprisingly cheap from my local grocery store and they're designed to work with practically all smart phones.
Pigtail sign stakes are designed to stick up out of the ground and hold thin plastic or cardboard signs and should work with most photographs.
If you can't find the right sized rope clips to fit over the sign stake, hose clamps or zip ties might also work.
Secure the Sign Clip to the Selfie Stick
Bend the pigtail sign stake so that the clip at the end is at a 90 degree angle to the rest of the stake and measure how far away you'd like your phone to be from your picture. Unscrew the phone bracket mount from the selfie stick arm, then thread the pigtail sign stake through the end of the arm and secure it in place with 2 rope clips halfway between the sign stake clip and where your phone will be.
Secure the Phone to the Stake
Put the screw back into the phone bracket mount and thread it onto the sign stake. Then secure it in place with 2 rope clips. The mount should actually just fit over the rope clips so that your phone stays upright. Screw the bracket into the mount and insert your phone.
Have Some Selfless Fun!
Cut out a picture of yourself, or someone you'd like to share your adventures with, and clip it to the end of the pigtail sign stake. Now you can take pictures with your selfie stick from a third-person perspective, allowing you to enjoy the fun of documenting your exploits without having to pose for the camera!
