Howdy all !

im back again with some more Golden-Oldie stuff i still use today, lol

These are the Thermaltake BigWater 760i and BigWater 780e 2-Bay & 3-Bay Units, respectfully..

Question;

Does anyone still have and/or Use these Units ???

- or even have these packed away in a dusty old box somewhere all forgotten about ??? lol

I would be highly interested in acquiring some of this old tech in the new year if anyone feels like parting with this old stuff from 8 Years ago.. !!!

i made a Blog as i was unsure of the HD Photo's requirement being way too much per photo on instructables but mainly because instructables penalises authors from adding simple photo's in between their text so its easier for people to read and learn by checking out the photo's and running along the text that the author is writing which corresponds to the photo's, my Short Blog is here...

Here are photo's of what these bay units look like, which hopefully may jog some memories also My Patreon Page if any of my tutorials has helped you, please consider buying me a coffee - remember you dont have to, its not mandatory, and my works will ALWAYS BE FREE

Argh, Instructables doesnt allow me to place photo's in my text so another reason why i opened up my blog, so i can lay it out how i want and include photo's in the middle of paragraphs for example...

i think that was the biggest problem with instructables these days, without a pro membership, not only does the public suffer from not being able to see sometimes critical photo's as and when needed in text-bodies, but the authors also suffer from not being able to layout their instructables how they want to as we got restrictions, plus as im disabled and cannot walk, i dont even have government benefits at the present, so hopefully that will be sorted on the new year

So ive left photo's just in the main titles of these two watercoolinng Units :)

This is the BigWater 760i - Note is doesnt have the Adjustable Fan knob on the front, i think this was the first generation (i removed the 120mm fan);

This is the BigWater 780e;

So i'd be very grateful if anyone has the spares for these, im always looking on ebay for the spares but for months and months theres not any being listed this year (2017), so fingers crossed some awesome folks might be able to help me out here, im especially after any pumps and the plastic quick-release couplings, doesnt matter if they dont work or have leaks, radiators included, basically anything from these 2 units would be very helpful.

These ones i have are still running and are still in use, but i sadly used tap water on the larger one and have messed up the radiator, which these ones are all aluminum, so i have either calcium/mineral white solid build up of chalky type stuff all inside the radiator and one of the All Copper Waterblocks..

Plus you can check out why its such a BAD IDEA with this photo of a Chinese half aluminum and half copper waterblock, after about 2 years of abuse;

You can see this white build-up has almost completely blocked one of the internal holes of this waterblock, and here is why one shouldnt use plain tap-water lol

i was in a really dark place back then & couldnt get to my computer to disassemble it for a service, so was limping it to the finish line, just so itd still work lol my own faults, only got myself to blame..

So.. To keep this rolling in a positive fashion, does anyone have any spare parts from these bay-watercooling units ?

If you have and would like to rejuvenate them and still be able to use them today, check out my blog, i do apologise for not making it on here, i had already spent months making it on there, but now ive signed up to imgur to host my larger HD Photo's, i know i wont be having any problems now, in regards to way too large photo sizes in megabytes..

If your units are beyond the scope of repair, id be grateful for any spare parts, but id rather youd get yours functional again to use in your projects, that would be awesome to suddenly remember you have one of these units and get it working again after a good cleanup !

Also id really appreciate any tips and advice for how youve repaired, modified or re-built your Thermaltake Units

i am in the middle of making a Peltier Control Board, but this PCB also can be used to control Pump, Fan & give readouts on a Nokia LCD Screen for temperatures of water in, water out, motherboard temperature/case temperature & has optional inputs for additional temp sensors to place anywhere else one would like.

The 3-Bay Thermaltake Unit comes with a microcontroller PCB already with these functions, minus the LCD but they use NVIDIA System Tools v6.03 and this allows you to have the readouts on Screen on your desktop and allows control of the PWM Fan and Pump too;

By the looks of things, its got an 8-Bit Microcontroller, very similar to the 8-Bit Arduino Microcontrollers, except this one doesnt need many external components and runs at a faster 25 Mhz Clock speed, even an overclocked Arduino is maxed at 20Mhz, so this little thing also has built-in USB support, i am a huge Arduino Fan, but this Microcontroller from Silicon Labs is pretty awesome and im looking into trying to either clone it from existing PCB or see how i can copy the firmware that it is running so we can duplicate it

Thermaltake Customer Services sadly dont even know that they built this board, well.. lets face it folks, it IS 8-9 years old lol

Where they still have dated references to these units on their global website, through a google search, you cannot find it otherwise..

So if anyone has these PCB's - id be extremely grateful if i could grab these so i can have a few to de-solder the microcontroller from the PCB and attempt to clone it

It would be nice to also be able to use the Nvidia System Tools on any cloned versions of this PCB, but if i cant, i do have an Arduino-Based PCB in testing that could take over the job of this Microcontroller, but not have the Nvidia System Tools - But it will have a Nokia LCD screen to display readouts and have an option to control the fan/pump & monitor temperatures :)
