The World's Most Expensive Cat Toys
Cats love expensive toys. If you didn't spend some serious money on it, they turn their nose up and knock things off the table. Free toys will not do. Your cat demands stacks of cash... or at least mine does. Fake mice will not do when you could have hundos (his words, not mine).
Here's how to make the world's most expensive cat toys for those cats with discerning tastes, aka if your cat is picky picky... I mean, he knows his worth and he won't accept less.
To make these awesome stacks of cash cat toys you will need:
*money themed fabric
*catnip
*fiberfill (stuffing)
*thread
*needle
*scissors
*a discerning cat who insists on being in the photo...
A Counterfitters Dream
The first step to make the most expensive cat toys in the world is to find novelty fabric that has a money theme pattern. I found this fabric at Joann's, but I am sure there are plenty of places that carry fabric with a similar theme. How much fabric you need will depend on the particular pattern. With this fabric, we aren't dealing with the pocket change, he expects the $50's and $100's only!
Fussy cut around the desired bills. As you can see, I didn't spend a lot of time being specific about my fussy cutting, it's a rather hack job. That's ok! Chop out the bills you want.
I wanted the same bill on the front and back of each toy, so this 1/4 yard of fabric yielded 3 bills (but that's $200!). If you don't mind the back being a different pattern from the front, you can stretch your money a little further. My cat would judge. He wouldn't care... but he would judge. If your cat is more frugal, you may have more freedoms. Do what your cat would like best. Always!
Sticky Bills
Now it's time to attach the bills together. Line up two bills, right sides together. I found using 2 pins was plenty to keep the fabric aligned. Sew around 3 of the 4 sides of the bills, leaving one of the short ends open. I used a sewing machine, but you can hand stitch with a needle and thread if your feline would prefer it.
Make Spare Change
Once your bills are sewn together, you can clean up the edges a little bit (aka make spare change). Trim the edges, make sure to leave a little bit of an inner seam. Turn the bills right side out and use a pencil, chopstick or some other kind of utensil to gently push out the corners.
Stuff the Money
Time to stuff the money!
Alternate stuffing the bills with small tufts of fiberfill and sprinkles of catnip. If you spill any catnip, use a small piece of fiberfill to collect it, it will stick right to the fiberfill. Stuff each bill so that it doesn't turn into a tube, but add enough stuffing that it's a fat stack of cash. Paper thin bills will not do.
Wrap It Up
Fold over the open edge of the fabric along the edge of the design and whip stitch the end closed using a needle and thread.
If you're unfamiliar with how to do a whip stitch, I found a video that might be helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pG86hhrDdzQ
Live That Thug Life
Now that you have fat stacks of cash, thrown them in a pile on your floor so your cat can roll in them and you can watch him live his best thug life!

Hopefully the level of satire in this Instructable is evident! If not, let me clear the air for my awesome cat. He's not picky. At all. He is the most relaxed cat loaf that ever was. We have a floofy cat bed for him, he refuses to use it. But give him all the cardboard box lids!
He's chill. He appreciates the cheap gifts too.
But he does love his new dolla dolla bills! Can't go wrong with catnip as far as he is concerned.
I hope we brought you a smile and some inspiration! This is a super easy project and you can do any theme you'd like! There are so many kinds of novelty fabrics available, find one that speaks to your cats personality and run with it.
