The Ultimate Homemade Shaved Ice - Brain Freeze Guaranteed!

thumbnail_IMG_1130.jpg

You know those overpriced shaved ice stands that charge five bucks for a cup of frozen water with syrup? Yeah… what if I told you that you can make the same thing at home for basically nothing? Instead of begging your parents for cash every time you want a refreshing treat, you can DIY it with a KitchenAid mixer, my favorite kitchen contraption, ice, and whatever syrup or juice you have in the fridge. Bonus: You can make unlimited flavors, add way more syrup than the store ever does, and not have to wait in line behind a bunch of kids asking for extra sprinkles. Let’s get started!

Supplies

✅ KitchenAid stand mixer + shaved ice attachment

✅ Ice blocks (using the KitchenAid molds)

✅ Your favorite syrup or juice

✅ Cup, spoon, straw, and any toppings you want

Freeze Your Ice Like a Pro

Fill the Molds: Use the molds that come with your KitchenAid shaved ice attachment. Fill them with water or juice for a burst of flavor.

Freeze Overnight: Pop those molds in the freezer overnight. This ensures your ice is solid and ready for action when you are! Soft or wet ice doesn’t work well—it just makes sad, clumpy slush.

TIP: Stock Up - I like to make extra ice molds and keep them in a ziplock bag in the freezer. This way, I always have some on hand for those spontaneous drink cravings!

Set Up the KitchenAid Attachment

✅ Attach the shaved ice contraption to your KitchenAid mixer. Lock it in place unless you want an accidental snowstorm in your kitchen.

Shave That Ice

✅ Drop in your ice, lock it back in place, and turn on the mixer to low as per the attachment instructions.

✅ Watch the magic happen. If everything is working right, you should get fluffy, snowy ice. If it’s coming out weird and chunky, check your settings—or just embrace the chaos.

Flavor It Up

✅ Pour your favorite syrup or juice over the ice. Don’t go too wild unless you want a sticky disaster. Swirl it around with a spoon or straw to mix the flavors.

Enjoy (But Watch Out for Brain Freeze)

✅ Sip it, snap a pic (because obviously), and enjoy! But pace yourself—unless you’re into the whole brain freeze experience.
